Armstrong In The Media

A Call to Phones - The conversations we're having are not the conversations we need to have.

As Umair Irfan of Vox media writes in a recent article: The Air Conditioning Paradox, in an environment of more frequent and more dangerous heat waves, “the tactics for cooling can end up worsening the very problem they’re trying to solve if they draw on fossil fuels, or leak refrigerants that are potent heat-trapping gases. And the people who stand to experience the most extreme heat are often those least able to cool off.”

Contributing to an Historically Significant Renovation Project

Posted by Armstrong Fluid Technology on Mar 30, 2022 5:54:46 AM

Armstrong recently contributed to the renovation of an historic hospital in the Chicago area. From the early 1900s to the 1980s, Cook County Hospital was a leading healthcare institution. Patients used to travel from countries around the world for the innovative treatments and advanced care available. Many of the people now living in the Chicago area were born at Cook County Hospital, in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Although the many professionals who served in the hospital were leaders and innovators in the field of healthcare, the building facility and the mechanical systems were not up to the demands of a modern healthcare facility setting.  The original design had no cooling system, and the scale of renovations required to bring the facility up to modern standards made the prospect unaffordable. The hospital was closed in the 1980s and stood vacant for almost 30 years.

As facility managers, contractors and service professionals gain experience working with remote performance tracking capabilities for intelligent pumps, the HVAC industry is learning how valuable this type of subscription service can be. It seems that many customers originally agreed to the purchase of a performance tracking subscription service on the assumption that it would serve only as a security blanket, but would be mostly unnecessary. Based on the testimonial stories provided by customers describing service, maintenance and performance management scenarios, the subscription service has proven its value many times over. Examples detailing how remote performance tracking prevented a serious negative outcome, organized into categories, are presented below.
