Armstrong Fluid Technology launched ADEPT, its pump selection software program. The intuitive screen allows users to view line drawings, multi-curves, photos, voltage, motor size, inlets, accessories, construction options, etc. The program then lists the pumps that meet the user’s criteria along with their energy efficiency and costs.

The new COMPASS circulator helps contractors and wholesalers with easy selection, fast installation, and extremely broad performance capabilities for application to a wide variety of installations, the company said. The circulator features Design Envelope technology. The circulator also helps homeowners reduce energy consumption and operating costs. In “Auto” mode — one of eight operating modes available for selection — the circulator adjusts its operating speed to match HVAC demand at any given moment. Over time, the circulator
learns a system’s patterns of demand and appropriately adjusts output to reduce energy usage even more. According to the manufacturer, the circulators are suited to applications requiring up to 20 gpm and 20 feet of pressure.

Armstrong Fluid Technology pumps and controls for chilled water systems have been installed in Masdar City, the ground-breaking sustainable city under construction in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Masdar City is being built by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company with additional funding from the Abu Dhabi government.  Designed by British architects Foster and Partners, it is an ambitious planned city which will rely entirely on renewable energy with a sustainable, zero-carbon, zero-waste ecology.  The aim is to create a world-famous hub for cleantech companies.  It will host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and its first tenant is the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology.

Customer Misconceptions Stem from Lack of Awareness, Fear of High Cost

While radiant heating has been around for a long time and is common in Europe, there are still many misconceptions swirling around these systems on this side of the pond. Some customers consider it a new and untested technology, while others categorize it as a luxury beyond what they can afford.

However, according to experts in this field, it’s time to bust these myths and introduce radiant heat to the masses.

Armstrong Fluid Technology launches a new control solution that improves the energy efficiency of chiller plants. Seamlessly interfacing with an existing building or chiller-plant automation system. the OPTl-VISOR controls the key components of a plant, providing the optimal operating settings for equipment, such as water-cooled variable-speed chillers, variable-flow cooling towers and variable-speed pumps on the chilled water and tower water circuits. By controlling the chiller plant settings to maximize system-wide efficiency, OPTI-VISOR will generate valuable energy savings even when applied to recently installed equipment. Armstrong estimates an energy savings of 15% to 30% can be expected from a typical installation on an existing all-variable-speed chiller plant.

Armstrong Fluid Technology has announced the global launch of its Parallel Sensorless technology with the introduction of the Parallel Sensorless Pump Controller. The new Parallel Sensorless Pump Controller is an innovative add-on control device that coordinates the output of multiple pumping units in a parallel configuration to achieve significant energy savings.

Featuring advanced sensorless technology, the Parallel Sensorless Pump Controller controls up to four Armstrong Design Envelope pumping units and delivers superior energy efficiency, along with reduced first installed system cost. The monitoring and instruction provided by a parallel sensorless pump controller can coordinate operations to achieve even greater energy savings.
