Deep lake water cooling (DLWC) is a groundbreaking cooling system that provides an alternative to conventional air conditioning. The system uses cold water from Lake Ontario to cool buildings in Toronto’s downtown core. The DLWC system has enough capacity to cool 3 million square meters (32 million square feet) of building space and is the largest renewable, lake-source cooling system of its kind in North America.

Armstrong Fluid Technology chosen for pioneering Masdar eco-city

Armstrong Fluid Technology pumps and controls for chilled water systems have been installed in Masdar City, the ground-breaking sustainable city under construction in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Masdar City is being built by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company with additional funding from the Abu Dhabi government.  Designed by British architects Foster and Partners, it is an ambitious planned city which will rely entirely on renewable energy with a sustainable, zero-carbon, zero-waste ecology.  The aim is to create a world-famous hub for cleantech companies.  It will host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and its first tenant is the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology.

Armstrong Fluid Technology Launches its Planet Proposition Sustainability Initiative with Competition for Schools

Armstrong Fluid Technology announced the launch of its Planet Proposition corporate sustainability initiative in June with an event at The Crystal. Members of the company’s senior leadership team introduced the initiative at a press reception, followed by an awards ceremony for the company’s first community project. Finalists in a competition for Key Stage 2 children in schools local to the company’s two UK factories (in Manchester and the West Midlands) gathered to receive their prizes and find out the name of the overall winner.
