MEETING THE DEMAND FOR BIM

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
With over 1,000 employees worldwide, operating seven manufacturing facilities on three continents, Armstrong Fluid Technology is known around the world as a leader and innovator in design, engineering and manufacturing of integrated solutions within the building oriented fluid-flow equipment industry. Armstrong products are recognized for design innovation, quality, long service life, and superior operating economy.

THE CHALLENGE
The staff at Armstrong have used SolidWorks for manufacturing design for many years. With an opportunity to design packaged systems featuring Armstrong products, the team faced a challenge: These models must be designed in Revit. Customers have been requesting BIM content for Armstrong products, and the current team does not have much knowledge in content creation in Revit software.

THE SOLUTION
The SolidCAD experts were brought in to help. After an initial assessment, Armstrong moved forward with a custom training program for its employees, focused on family creation and developing packaged systems in Revit MEP software. The SolidCAD team was retained to provide ongoing, post-training support for its employees. This comprehensive plan put together by SolidCAD was key to helping the Armstrong team in developing its first few families and templates for the packaged systems.

THE RESULTS
• Staff at Armstrong were able to apply knowledge from SolidCAD’s training to create an automated translator to convert SolidWorks models into a Revit family.
